Afghanistan has an ancient history, preserved to this day culture in the form of various languages and monuments. Nevertheless, many historical monuments were destroyed during the war. Two famous Buddha statues in the Bamiyan province were destroyed by the Taliban movement, who viewed them as "idolatrous" and "pagan". Other famous monuments of architecture can be found the cities of Kandahar, Ghazni and Balkh. The Jamsky minaret, in the valley of the Hari River, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The cloak of Muhammad is kept inside the famous Khalkha Sharif in the city of Kandahar.
